stillborn spring

boys and girls club altar 24 oakland

It should rain in the winter

one expects the wind

trees get naked in anticipation

it should rain in the winter

children should grow up

you should shudder at your pain

reflected in the mirror or your brothers eyes

it should rain in the winter

there should be seasons

spring should come

trees get dressed in anticipation

small coffins are a profanity

children should grow up

not be eaten by war

on streets here and there

not trafficked like commodities

fed and loved

not considered collateral damage

pawns on a battleground

armed with rocks

suffering guns

hunger and homelessness

uncertainty and fear

children should grow up

live off their parents sweat and wisdom

not inherit debt

wade in cycles

their parents drowned in

they should grow towards the sun

straight strong invincible

into tomorrows

small coffins are a profanity

it should rain in the winter

spring should come

trees get dressed in anticipation
